Creator of warfare creation Osborne Industries, Norman Osborne holds a hideous arcanum. A failed experiment resulted in him left uncontrollably mentally deranged, attempting to launch an internal war between the person he aims to be and the Villain his thought is making him. Osborne is the Green Goblin. For a long time the Green Goblin has bullied the districts of New York, and was it not for Peter Parker's dedicated interfering his global oppression goals may well have been successful.
When kept up in prison during the Civil War, Norman Osbornes Super strength and intellect was called for by the Iron Man Pro-Registraion side in a attempt to battle any Hero fighting the Super Hero Registration Act. Along side Venom, Penance and Songbird, Norman was drafted to the Thunderbolts, a team of anti-heroes issued with the task of looking after their cities during this irregular period.
Hoodwinking his country by performing earnestly during this period created him as a natural follower to the Director of H.A.M.M.E.R. role when the Siege resulted in Iron Man (Tony Stark, Stark and ex- S.H.I.E.L.D. director) on the run. The USA leading intelligence and counter terror agency had a new leader. Unfortunately, Norman Osborne is still mentally ill!
Insane with new found power, Goblin next Rears his attention to getting that which he had wanted for all this time: the knowledge on the names of all registered Heroes. Disappointingly for Norman however the information was kept in the one area he could not attain it: inside the head of Iron man.
Understanding that Norman would begin hunting Stark to get the information only he knows, Stark introduces a program to his mind which will slowly remove the information from his mind. The major problem being the likely death of Tony Stark. Now on the run to keep a distance from the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. Stark is aware that Norman will be progressing the StarkTech he left with S.H.I.E.L.D. in his time as director. He however did not predict that Norman's intelligence would give him to progress his Iron Suit for use!
Predicting that the American population would not accept him as a reformed hero, Norman optimised his look as a hero to the American population, by adorning his adapted Iron Man suit the colours of their national flag. hence an concoction of 2 of the universes most loved Heroes was brought to life: The Iron Patriot!
After this, in the Siege run Stark and Iron Patriot have their exciting fight over the back drop of New York. To avoid spoiling what is a ultimate war we are going to stop telling the outcome of the fight now, but we can inform you that the climax to the Dark Siege story line is revolutionary!
